Walkway News
Thank you for joining us for the Fireworks Spectacular on the Walkway!
The Independence Day Celebration held at Walkway Over the Hudson State Park on Wednesday, July 4 was a wonderful event, in spite of the close proximity of lightening that required everyone to briefly clear the bridge before the fireworks began.

The audience remained remarkably patient while waiting for New York State Parks officials and Park Police to announce that it was once again safe to return to the Walkway before the start of the fireworks display. We are grateful to all who participated in the July 4th fireworks event, including the City of Poughkeepsie and Town of Lloyd, which produced a magnificent display that lasted nearly 25 minutes and was one of the most dynamic in years. Police, fire, and emergency services personnel were extremely professional throughout the event. Walkway’s fantastic team of volunteers and staff once again pitched in to make the event run smoothly in spite of the threat of inclement weather. Walkway staff, volunteers and NYS Parks offer special thanks to the people who attended the July 4th fireworks event for being so understanding and cooperative. You make the Walkway the friendliest park in the world!
