Each year nearly 500,000 people enjoy the Walkway Over the Hudson.
Men, women and children of all ages and walks of life use this splendid community asset to connect, relax and transform their health and their day. We like to call it The Great Connector because it connects people, places and history.
Together, with your support, we can continue to offer and expand the programs and events on the Walkway that enhance life in the Hudson Valley.
We hear every day how the Walkway changes people’s lives. One example is reflected in the gift of Alice and Newton Ruffing, who, along with friends and family, memorialized their son Charles by naming a bench on the Walkway.
Charles’ mother said, “He was a kind, joyful, sensitive, helpful and giving person. Through all his struggles, he never lost his hope or positive attitude towards life. He volunteered at the hospital and on his breaks he would walk to the Walkway…”
Although Charles died far too young, he lives on through the organs he so generously donated to others. On a beautiful day in June, we met his family and friends when the bench on the Walkway was dedicated. Some of the organ recipients were there to share the day with his family. It was an emotional moment for all of us.
This is just one example of how the Walkway is truly The Great Connector. But we cannot continue without you. State funds pay only a portion of what we need for this all-important community treasure. Will you add your support today? Your generous gift, in any amount, will allow us to continue to connect people, places and history.
You gift will help insure that the Walkway continues to enhance all our lives. Thank you!
