Due to construction, the Walkway’s official paved parking lot located at 61 Parker Avenue in Poughkeepsie will be closed as the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation begins building a new maintenance building. The lot will remain closed through mid-January 2026.
There are free parking options located near the Walkway in Poughkeepsie. Visitors may park for free at Pulaski Park (170 Washington Street, approximately 0.2 miles from the Washington Street Stairs), or along Brookside Avenue between Washington Street and Garden Street. Handicapped parking is challenging in this area, and for easiest access to the park, guests are encouraged to park on the west (Highland) side of the bridge. All handicapped spaces in Highland are free to access. The Town of Lloyd charges for general parking in lots and marked spaces along Haviland Road.
