Due to construction, the Walkway’s official paved parking lot located at 61 Parker Avenue in Poughkeepsie will be closed as the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation begins building a new maintenance building. The lot will remain closed through mid-January 2026.
There are free parking options located near the Walkway on both sides of the Hudson River. In Poughkeepsie, visitors may park for free at Pulaski Park (170 Washington Street, approximately 0.2 miles from the Washington Street Stairs), or along Brookside Avenue between Washington Street and Garden Street. Handicapped parking is challenging in this area, and for easiest access to the park, guests are encouraged to park on the west (Highland) side of the bridge.
In Highland, visitors may park for free in the gravel lot at 70 Haviland Road adjacent to the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Caboose.
In addition, there is ample on-street parking near the Walkway in both Highland and Poughkeepsie. Please follow posted signage for rates and availability.

Walkway's elevator, merchandise and information pavilions, and electric tram have ended operation for the season. Indoor restrooms remain open near each gate throughout the year.
