Bridge Music Dance Project: Connecting the Hudson Valley

June 25 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Walkway Over the Hudson presents the Bridge Music Dance Project, a program of innovative choreography to “Bridge Music” and performed by dancers from the Hudson Valley.

The Bridge Music Dance Project is a collaborative event, hosted by the Walkway Friends organization, and created by Livia Vanaver, founder of the renowned The Vanaver Caravan Dance and Music Company, with nine other choreographers and Joseph Bertolozzi, composer of “Bridge Music.” The diverse collaborative partnership of esteemed dancer/choreographers include: Alison Chen and Angela Chen, Ariana Brisport, Bryant Drew Andrews/Malik Andrews/Lisa Brown, Jessie Levey, Joel Hanna, Kantham Chatlapalli, Leighann Kowalsky, Maia Martinez, Sondra Loring.

This event will take place at 7:30 PM in the center of the Walkway with all the dance troupes joined and coordinated by The Vanaver Caravan, performing ten choreographed dances. The theme of the performance is “what connects all of us,” with the idea that the Walkway itself is a connecting force between the river’s shores and communities. Bertolozzi on the project: “By using no other sounds than drumming on the surfaces of the Mid-Hudson Bridge we can now hear it as an instrument. My Bridge Music brings a whole new dimension to this monument of civil engineering by recreating it in sound. Now with the pulse and flow of dancers expanding that same music onto another bridge (the Walkway Over the Hudson), enhanced by the public as a live audience, it’s an unparalleled fusion of artforms. I can’t wait.”

This event is free and open to the public. Bridge Music Dance Project sponsors are Douglas Abramson; Margery Groten; Amy Thrasher; Anonymous; as well as NYSCA and Arts Mid-Hudson.

Attendees are welcome to enjoy other events happening on the Walkway on the same night including Walkway at Night and Movies Under the Walkway. Visit www.walkway.org to learn more.
