The Great Connector Series: Geocaching 101

October 16, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Join us on Sunday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. for a presentation entitled Geocaching 101” by Walkway Ambassadors Shirley Rinaldi and Dan Jones.  This interactive event will begin at the Ulster Welcome Center (87 Haviland Road, Highland) and includes a walk onto the Walkway.

Shirley Rinaldi and Daniel Jones are both long time Walkway Ambassadors. They are Geocaching buddies and have spent many hours hiking trails both locally and beyond to find hidden caches.

Dan and Shirley are both former middle school teachers at Poughkeepsie Day School where they integrated Geocaching courses into their curriculum, encouraging students to explore, using maps, GPS, orienteering, geography and math skills.

Geocaching 101 is a fun interactive presentation that will explain all you need to know to begin these fun treasure hunting adventures. This is a family friendly hobby that is free and encourages you to visit many wonderful and unknown areas to find caches. There are over two million active caches around the world.

This event is free to attend and suitable for all ages.

Walkway Over the Hudson’s “Great Connector” lecture series hosts educators, historians, and authors for talks on a variety of regional interest topics including history, ecology, and industry.
