Walkway Connections: Connecting People With Nature
August 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Scenic Hudson’s River Cities Program collaborates with community members, municipalities, and partner organizations to deepen relationships between community and nature in Kingston, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie. This Walkway presentation will explore the organization’s work in Poughkeepsie, which is rooted in healthy urban ecosystems and vibrant public spaces that support community wellbeing.
On Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie, Julia Raskin, Senior Project Manager on the River Cities Team, and Caroline Alsup, Headquarters Project Manager, will discuss the organization’s planning and programming work throughout the city, with a focus on the new Northside Hub on Parker Avenue and efforts to connect surrounding neighborhoods with the Fall Kill Creek. This event is free to attend and appropriate for all ages.
Scenic Hudson is a community-oriented organization that works with policymakers, municipalities, engaged citizens, and developers to ensure that the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley persists. The environmental health and preservation of natural habitats in the Valley – both urban and rural – is crucial to the continued quality of life and health of our residents. Through the development of parks, land conservation efforts, thought leadership, active preservation of farms, and environmental advocacy, we work to guarantee that our communities and environment continue to thrive.
