Volunteer On The Walkway! Ambassador Orientation Set For February 7

Friends of the Walkway are seeking enthusiastic community members to join our team of red-vested Walkway Ambassadors — volunteers who help create a welcoming, informative, and memorable experience for visitors from near and far. Ambassadors play a vital role in supporting Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park while connecting people to one of the Hudson Valley’s most iconic destinations.

Volunteers assist in a variety of ways, including greeting visitors, leading or supporting tours, staffing park merchandise and information pavilions, helping with special events, assisting with gardening projects, and supporting tram operations. Whether you enjoy interacting with the public, working behind the scenes, or spending time outdoors, there are opportunities to match a wide range of interests and availability.

Those interested in becoming a Walkway Ambassador are invited to attend a New Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, February 7, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., hosted at the Dutchess County Emergency Response Center (392 Creek Road, Poughkeepsie). The orientation provides an overview of volunteer roles, expectations, and the many ways ambassadors support the Walkway’s mission. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and meet fellow volunteers.

If you’re unable to attend the February 7 orientation or would like more information about volunteer requirements, we encourage you to reach out. Virtual orientations and additional volunteer opportunities are available, including for teens through our new Junior Ambassador Program. To learn more, express interest, or RSVP for the February 7 orientation, email Tamara at [email protected].

Join us and help make every visit to the Walkway extraordinary.
