Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world, is again offering the public the opportunity to view the City of Poughkeepsie’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display from 212 feet above the Hudson River. While supplies last, tickets are available online at walkway.org, at the Walkway’s merchandise pavilions (open weekends from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., weather permitting), and at Adams Fairacre Farms in Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls.
Walkway members, seniors, and veterans can purchase tickets for $10, while the general public is invited to attend for $12.50. Children under 10 are free, however must be registered at walkway.org and valid passes are required. Everyone entering the park after 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 needs to have a wristband for admittance.
“There’s no better way to celebrate American independence than by viewing an amazing professional fireworks display, and there’s no better location to see fireworks in the Hudson Valley then from the Walkway,” said Elizabeth Waldstein, Executive Director, Walkway Over the Hudson. “We’re pleased to continue this wonderful annual tradition of opening the bridge to family, friends, and the entire community.”
On Thursday, July 4, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park will begin closing procedures at 4 p.m. for setup and safety preparations. It will reopen at 7 p.m. to event ticket holders only. The City of Poughkeepsie fireworks display will begin between 9-9:30 p.m. The Walkway will remain open for one hour after the conclusion of the event.
If the fireworks are postponed due to severe weather, the fireworks will launch one day later on Friday, July 5. Notification will occur via walkway.org, the Walkway’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and local iHeart Radio stations.
Please note that tickets have sold out in previous years. In the unlikely event that tickets are not sold out in advance, remaining wristbands will be available for purchase on July 4 at both the Highland and Poughkeepsie entrances of the bridge.
Due to the unique nature of the Fourth of July event, all ticket holders are asked to adhere to these special guidelines:

PLEASE NOTE: All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued.
Those with valid tickets are encouraged to carpool and to park at various City of Poughkeepsie and Town of Lloyd locations, or approved on-street parking spaces, and allow ample time to get to the Walkway in time for the fireworks. Ticket holders may access the Walkway from either the East or West entrances.
Health Quest, Royal Carting, and Q92 generously sponsor the viewing of the City of Poughkeepsie fireworks on the Walkway. Proceeds support the fireworks display and the Walkway’s mission to host community programming, add amenities, undertake new construction projects, and more.
The celebration is made possible by the City of Poughkeepsie, Town of Lloyd, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, NY State Park Police, local law enforcement, MobileLife Support Services, iHeart Media of the Hudson Valley, and Walkway staff and volunteers.
