Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park connects all there is to see and do in the Hudson Valley. Open 365 days per year, the linear park stands 212 feet above the Hudson River and spans 1.28 miles between Poughkeepsie and Highland, New York. It directly connects to the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail on the east and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail on the west, and is a key gateway in the 750-mile long Empire State Trail taking travelers from New York City all the way to Buffalo or Plattsburgh. It is free to cross and mostly flat and paved with no stairs required, making it one of the most accessible parks in the nation. Amenities include an indoor restrooms at both entrances, picnic tables, water fountains, gathering spaces, an audio tour translated into three languages, an electric tram in operation seasonally, and more.
