Beginning Friday, November 8, the Walkway’s official paved parking lot located at 61 Parker Avenue in Poughkeepsie will be closed as the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation begins construction of a new maintenance building. The lot will remain closed through mid-January 2026.
Several spaces in the closed paved lot will remain accessible for handicapped parking. Signage will be posted to direct guests to this area.
There are free parking options located near the Walkway on both sides of the Hudson River. In Poughkeepsie, visitors may park for free at Pulaski Park (170 Washington Street, approximately 0.2 miles from the Washington Street Stairs), or along Brookside Avenue between Washington Street and Garden Street.
In Highland, visitors may park for free in the gravel lot at 70 Haviland Road adjacent to the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Caboose.
In addition, there is ample on-street parking near the Walkway in both Highland and Poughkeepsie. Please follow posted signage for rates and availability.

Walkway's waterfront elevator at Upper Landing Park is open and operating from 9 a.m. until 90 minutes prior to the park's closing time.
