First Day Hike

Friends of the Walkway and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invite everyone to start 2025 on Walkway Over the Hudson and take part in our traditional First Day Hike on January 1!
Meet at either the Poughkeepsie (61 Parker Avenue) or Highland (87 Haviland Road) entrances at 1 p.m. for the group trek to the Center Overlook (by the flagpole) where we’ll revel in a new year with raffles and giveaways on the World’s Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. The walk from the gate to the Center Overlook is approximately 0.6 miles. A one-way trek across the Walkway is 1.28 miles. The bridge is flat and paved with no stairs required.
