Memorial Day Sunset Flag Changing Ceremony
May 26 @ 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The American Legion Post 739 organize and present monthly Flag Changing Ceremonies on the Walkway to honor our region’s veterans and their service to our country. These events are open to all who wish to attend.
The most special flag changing ceremony takes place on Sunday, May 26 in honor of Memorial Day. Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger join with veterans affairs leaders and local VFW members for a moving sunset ceremony that also includes a four-gun salute, the playing of Taps, local artists performing God Bless America, and a carnation toss into the Hudson River.
This special sunset ceremony begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 30 minutes.
