POUGHKEEPSIE – The Hudson River Valley Greenway has awarded the City of Poughkeepsie $75,000 for a trail connection at College Hill Park.
The city is partnering with the Revive College Hill Park Coalition to construct a trail that leads from the Dutchess County Rail Trail to the Reservoir Walk at College Hill, a path that circles the city’s original Victorian-era reservoir.
Signage and bike racks will also be installed along the new trail connection.
When completed, the project will enable users to access College Hill Park from the Walkway Over the Hudson via the Dutchess County Rail Trail.
“A connection with the Dutchess County Rail Trail has long been sought as a means of opening up College Hill to current residents and new visitors who may not be as familiar with the park,” said Interim Economic Development Director Paul Calogerakis. “Now people will be able to more easily access College Hill and enjoy all that the park has to offer.”
Walkway's waterfront elevator at Upper Landing Park is currently closed for maintenance. OCTOBER 3-6: Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie and the Walkway elevator will be closed for Starry Starry Night. |
