Runners, joggers, walkers, and all with an interest in health and wellness are asked to save the date – Sunday, June 14 – for the first-ever Walkway One Mile. This morning series of ten professionally timed one-mile races all takes place 212 feet above the Hudson River on Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. Participants will enjoy fun races of varying competitive intensity and sweeping, panoramic views not available anywhere else in the world. Registrants will receive a commemorative gift and unique prizes will be available. Walkway One Mile is planned in conjunction with Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie.
Registration information and a complete list of specifics regarding the individual events will be forthcoming. Participants of all ages, from serious competitors to families and those looking for an event where fun is the main priority, will find Walkway One Mile appealing.
All proceeds from Walkway One Mile support the Friends of the Walkway Over the Hudson and its mission to bring programs and amenities including an electric tram to the park, undertake capital projects like installing lighting on the bridge, and provide a friendly and welcoming experience for more than 600,000 annual visitors.
Walkway's waterfront elevator at Upper Landing Park is currently closed for maintenance. OCTOBER 3-6: Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie and the Walkway elevator will be closed for Starry Starry Night. |
