Park to open late for ticket holders to see amazing fireworks display at eye level on the World’s Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge
On Thursday, July 4, the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization is once again offering the public a one-of-a-kind unobstructed view of the City of Poughkeepsie’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display from 212 feet above the Hudson River at Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. Beginning at 7 p.m., the Walkway will open to ticket holders only to experience this unique vantage point. Tickets, which sell out in advance of the event every year, are on sale now at walkway.org/fireworks.
Walkway members, seniors, and veterans can purchase tickets for $20, while the public is invited to attend for $25. Children under 12 are free, however they must be registered at walkway.org/fireworks and valid passes are required. Every guest entering the park after 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, including children, must have a ticket for admittance. To limit crowding both on-bridge and at the entrances, attendees will be asked to choose which side of the park they will arrive when purchasing tickets. All proceeds support the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization and its mission to host community programming, add amenities to Walkway Over the Hudson, and more.
“There’s no better location to celebrate Fourth of July, and see an incredible professional fireworks display in the Hudson Valley than Walkway Over the Hudson,” said Lori Robertson, Executive Director, Friends of the Walkway. “We’re pleased to continue this wonderful annual tradition of opening the bridge to family, friends, and the entire community.”
On Thursday, July 4, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park will begin closing procedures at 4 p.m. for setup and safety preparations. It will reopen at 7 p.m. to event ticket holders only. The fireworks display will begin between 9-9:30 p.m. The Walkway begins closing procedures immediately following the conclusion of the event.
If the event is postponed due to severe weather, the fireworks will launch on Friday, July 5. Notification will occur via walkway.org and the Walkway’s social media channels.
Please note that tickets have sold out in all previous years. No tickets will be available for purchase on-site at the event.
Due to the unique nature of the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, all ticket holders are asked to adhere to these special guidelines:
