Walkway Over the Hudson members confirmed the 2020 Board of Directors and heard a report on the previous year’s activities during the organization’s annual meeting on Wednesday, December 11 at the Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie. Tony Pagano, CEO of a Manhattan-based construction development firm with roots in Marlboro, and Ann Weiser, a retired television executive and Hyde Park resident, were elected to their first term.
John Storyk, Founding Partner and Director of Design for Walters-Storyk Design Group in Highland, was re-elected board chair.
Christina Bark of Christina Bark & Associates, Michael Fleischer, retired from Holby Valve, Inc., and Howard Schwartz of Howie Schwartz Recording were confirmed to a second three-year term, joining 10 returning directors (full list at bottom). The board thanked outgoing directors Paul Haering, Natasha Krupp, Mike Oates, and Jayne McLaughlin for their service.
Pagano founded construction management and general contracting company OD&P in 1987, combining his background in construction with his real estate development expertise. In 2005, OD&P became Marlboro Group International (MGI), which includes strategic outposts in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC, London, and Thailand. A native of Marlboro, Pagano has served as board member for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of New York, a 10-year trustee and past chair of The Epiphany School Foundation, and is passionate about animal welfare and rescue, recently forming the Animal Rescue Coalition.
Weiser brings more than two decades of experience as a television executive at networks including Lifetime, Showtime, and VH1 to Walkway Over the Hudson. The Hyde Park resident, who holds a MFA in design criticism from the School of Visual Arts, serves as a member of the Town of Hyde Park Planning Board, the Hyde Park Downtown Initiative Committee, the Eleanor Roosevelt at Val-Kill Medals Committee, and was marketing chair for the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee. Weiser is also Vice-Chairperson and a founding member of Friends of Hyde Park, a new non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the town and encouraging new development.
After the conclusion of the annual meeting’s formal business, Walkway Over the Hudson Executive Director Elizabeth Waldstein recapped Walkway’s year of successful programming and fundraising and provided a look ahead to the projects in development in 2020. The evening was highlighted by the annual volunteer Ambassador awards ceremony, lauding those that went above and beyond in their service to the organization.
