I Love My Park Day
May 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join us in our effort to beautify the Walkway Over the Hudson! Attendees young and old are welcome to participate. Participants will be weeding, pruning, mulching, and watering our beautification areas on either side of the Walkway. Perfect for all who like to see the fruits of their labor blossom throughout the year. Thanks to our friends at the Millbrook and Dutchess/Orange Garden Clubs we will also have native pollinator plants for planting! Additional projects including trash clean up and painting may be offered as needed.
The morning will kick off with docent-led walking tours on either side of the Walkway at 9:30 a.m. and last about 75 minutes. Meet at the Walkway gates. Tours will include about 1-1.5 miles of walking. Walkway’s electric tram, which seats up to 11 passengers, will be available for those with limited mobility to enjoy an “on-the-go” tour from the WEST side only. Following the tour, participants will break off into small groups to help the Walkway Over the Hudson prepare its garden beds for the spring season.
All gardening projects will take place from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Anyone opting out of the tour should meet by the covered pavilion on the West, Highland side or the bathrooms near the parking lot on the East, Poughkeepsie side at 11am.
Participants should bring gardening gloves if you have them, clothes and shoes you do not mind getting dirty, a water bottle, and a snack. While we will have some gardening tools available, we encourage you to bring your own. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Windy days or sunny days can mean that a warmer layer or the ability to remove a layer could be helpful during the tour. Participants are also encouraged to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy afterwards.
