- John Jay Homestead is the country estate of one of America's Founding Fathers
- John Jay helped negotiate peace at the end of the Revolutionary War and co-authored the Federalists Papers, which supported the ratification of the U.S. Constitution
- He also served as president of the Continental Congress, first chief justice of the U. S. Supreme Court, and second governor of New York
- When Jay left public life in 1801, he and his family retired to the homestead, where he became a gentleman farmer
- The estate remained in the Jay family until the 1950s; it is an extraordinary time capsule, featuring a beautifully furnished Federal style house, a 19th-century farm complex, and extensive grounds
- Interactive exhibits in the new visitor center connect you to the history of the Jay family and discovery centers located in the farm outbuildings feature hands-on activities for all ages
